Dear East Meadow Staff:
As the 2017/2018 school year draws to a close, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your efforts throughout the year. The success of the East Meadow School District is built upon the work our faculty and staff do in support of our students and their families.
This past year, our students and staff have enjoyed many successes. Thank you for the dedication and commitment that each one of you has shown us. We’ve come through a year that was filled with both challenges and victories. How reassuring it has been to know that we can count on all of you regardless of what we face.
Administrators, faculty and staff worked together in a seamless way to address a number of goals related to student growth and achievement, STEM/STEAM opportunities, fiscal planning, energy and cost-saving initiatives and educational advocacy. In spite of changing mandates that continue to impact education, we have maintained our focus on ensuring our students are learning and that we continue to move forward as a district.
Over the past year, work on our facilities has started as a result of the voter approved Bond initiative. Work will continue over the summer, as we complete phase one of the Bond implementation. Our grounds crew completed a school beautification project at our elementary schools that had been in the works for some time, ensuring that our schools continue to be warm and inviting places for students, staff, and parents alike.
This year we expanded the District’s digital footprint by launching our social media sites that include: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I am happy to report that we’ve seen significant traffic across all three platforms. Additionally, staff use of Twitter has exceeded our expectations! It is wonderful to see the many engaging activities taking place inside classrooms across the district through staff use of Twitter.
On behalf of the Board of Education and central administration, please allow me to extend my personal and genuine appreciation to each and every one of you for your valuable contributions to the East Meadow School District and East Meadow community. Working with you this past year has been a pleasure and we’re proud of the role you play as part of the East Meadow family.
We offer our best wishes and happiness to you and your families. Enjoy your summer and I look forward to welcoming you Back-to-School in September. For now, remember that Great Happens Here in East Meadow because of all that you do to Bring Out the Best in Everyone!
